Look after your electric bike tyres

Tyres are the only point of contact with the road so it important look after them and always keep them pumped up to the correct pressure.

When tyres are too soft they don’t corner so well and are far more likely to be punctured. On an ordinary bike you will soon know if your tyres are under inflated because it will be harder to pedal the bike.

However, our LifeCycle electric bikes are so powerful that you won’t realise if the tyres need more air in them. But under inflated tyres it will take more out of the battery as the tyres try to slow the bike down, and that makes the battery work a bit harder and will therefore need re-charging sooner.

So keep a careful regular check on them. Tyres also need to be correctly inflated to increase their life. Properly inflated tyres prevent the tyre walls from cracking so they last a lot longer.

Squeezing the tyres by hand won’t tell you, the only safe way is to use a pressure gauge. So get a pump with a built in gauge and keep it with you at all times.

So keep your tyres correctly inflated and they will last longer, you will get less punctures, your bike will be safer and be a lot less effort to ride.
